Falcons add Chris Rowland to practice squad

Ravenwood alum Chris Rowland didn’t make the Atlanta Falcons’ 53-man roster, but the former Tennessee State standout was signed to the team’s practice squad after narrowly losing the kick returner battle in training camp.

The Falcons confirmed the news Sunday afternoon after Rowland shared it on his Instagram account. The 22-year-old wideout was edged out by Brandon Powell for Atlanta’s No. 1 returner job. As part of the practice squad, Rowland could wind up joining the active roster some weeks as part of new NFL rules that allow a team to have two practice squad players join the 53-man roster on game days.
