High-profile urban studies theorist and author Richard Florida — known best for his academic work on what he calls the “creative class” — has joined the Vanderbilt University faculty as a professor.

According to Vanderbilt, Florida has accepted appointments in the Owen Graduate School of Management and the VU School of Engineering, at which he will lead the university’s work on issues involving urban planning and city dynamics.
