Nearing the fourth anniversary of the Christmas Day bombing, Second Avenue has entered the final phase of road renovations. 

As of this past Friday, the block of Second Avenue spanning Broadway on the south and Commerce Street on the north is opened to traffic. It includes three pedestrian crosswalks, wider sidewalks and an area for outdoor dining, with the elimination of the previous on-street parking. Underground, a new storm drain infrastructure system was installed. The two-way Commerce Street will temporarily become a westbound one-way street, according to a press release.
