Real estate veteran and Democratic bigwig Bill Freeman has donated $100,000 to Conexión Américas' capital campaign for Casa Azafrán, its initiative to -- as Jim Ridley put it so well last year -- "bring Nashville's immigrant communities not only closer to each other but closer to the rest of the city." Casa Azafrán is aiming to raise more than $5 million and Executive Director Renata Soto called Freeman's gift "an important milestone for Conexión Américas, not only for its size but also for the symbolism it carries coming from a native Nashvillian whose family has called this city home for many generations."
