randsonware

Nashville-based SmileDirectClub was the victim of an April 14 ransonware attack that company officials estimate will cost up to $15 million.

SmileDirect filings say the teledentistry company was able to successfully block the attack with the help of an outside firm and that no ransom was paid. Company officials are now investigating the incident’s impact on operations and internal networks, saying the breach has caused, and may continue to cause, delays and disruptions to treatment planning, manufacturing and product delivery.
