Lipscomb’s ASUN tourney run ends with FGCU upset

Lipscomb men’s basketball fans had been getting pretty spoiled over the last three seasons watching the Bisons play in three straight ASUN Tournament championship games. That streak ended on Friday, however, after No. 6 Florida Gulf Coast (10-7, 4-5) upset No. 3 Lipscomb (15-12, 9-6) 72-60 to end the Bisons' season at Swisher Gym in Jacksonville.

Lipscomb, at times, dominated the first half. The Bisons had a 21-2 run at one point and led by as much as 17 before FGCU closed the gap to 35-31 by halftime. Then, the Bisons became their own worst enemy. They went ice cold in the second half, shooting just 28 percent compared to 46.8 percent in the first half. Lipscomb also shot 13 percent from beyond the three-point line, just 42 percent from the free-throw line and turned the ball over 18 times — which led to 22 points for the Eagles.
