AmSurg division acquires anesthesia practice

AmSurg's physician services division Sheridan announced it has acquired Coastal Anesthesiology Consultants, a St. Augustine, Florida, anesthesia services company.Through the deal, financial terms of which were not disclosed, Sheridan acquires more than 25 providers including physicians, certified nurse anesthetists and anesthesiologist assistants. Coastal Anesthesiology provides anesthesia services to Flagler Hospital facilities in the St. Augustine area. AmSurg bought Sheridan Healthcare last July in a $2.3 billion deal."We are proud that Coastal and its providers have chosen to partner with Sheridan and look forward to helping them navigate the ever-changing health care environment," Richard Coward, AmSurg president of physician services, said in a release. "We believe our tools and deep experience will enhance both the excellent care they already deliver to patients and the service they provide to clients."Shares of AmSurg (Ticker: AMSG) were up to $70.32 Thursday morning. Year to date, they're up 28 percent.
