It was not until shortly after they wrapped up the regular season Saturday night that the Nashville Predators learned what team they would face in the opening round of the playoffs.

The Colorado Avalanche clinched the final spot with a 5-2 victory over St. Louis. It will be their first postseason appearance in five years and their second in nine years. They have not won a playoff series since 2008.
