The hopes of former Vanderbilt forward Jalen Washington to play a fifth NCAA season — at the University of Tennessee — took a big hit in the courtroom Wednesday.

That’s when the Tennessee Court of Appeals in Nashville issued an order staying a previous Davidson County Chancery Court injunction, one that had granted 19 athletes, including Washington, a fifth year of eligibility.
