TSU head coach Eddie George

 Carl Edmondson Jr.

When the Chicago Bears gave former Tennessee State coach Eddie George an in-person interview for the team’s head-coaching job in January, many believed it was simply an effort to comply with the NFL’s Rooney Rule.

The league requires that every team conduct at least two in-person interviews with external diverse — minority and/or female — candidates for any head coach position.
