Drew Beam

Two former midstate prep standouts were among the players with Tennessee ties chosen Monday during the second day of the Major League Baseball draft.

Murfreesboro’s Drew Beam, a right-handed pitcher, was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the third round (No. 76 overall) and Lewisburg’s Kavares Tears, an outfielder, was drafted by the San Diego Padres with a fourth-round compensatory selection (No. 134).
