Metro Council to vote on east side creative campus

The Metro Council will vote on third reading tonight to approve a lease agreement between the Metropolitan Government and Friends of Shelby Park for the grounds in Shelby Park — a move that will yield a creative campus of sorts.

The agreement, if approved, will yield the $10 million Shelby Commons, a combination of park space and an arts and cultural center sitting on a site overlooking the Cumberland River. The property is recognized for the long-vacant U.S. Naval Reserve Training Center, which will be rehabbed, in East Nashville’s Shelby Park.
