Jurrell Casey is willing to accept what the stat sheet says."I was trying to go for a repeat this week and couldn't get it done," the Tennessee Titans defensive tackle said Saturday night.Casey delivered one the preseason's true highlights a week earlier in Cincinnati when he sacked Cincinnati quarterback Andy Dalton and took the ball from him seemingly in one motion. In the second quarter of Saturday's 27-16 victory over the Atlanta Falcons he seemingly did the same to Matt Ryan. Replays showed that he knocked the ball loose when he combined with Kamerion Wimbley on a sack. The replay was useless, though, because officials had ruled that Ryan's forward progress was stopped, which meant that play was not subject to review.Regardless, anyone who saw the game live knew that the 2011 second-round draft pick was worth watching on almost every snap he played. For the night, he was credited with five tackles, one and half sacks, two quarterback hurries and one tackle for a loss.He made the first tackle of the night when he chased down running back Steven Jackson after an 11-yard gain. He also got to Ryan 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage for a third-quarter sack. That's a lot of ground for someone who is 6-foot-1, 305 pounds to cover. After having dealt with arm and leg injuries almost from start to finish of last season, though, he is happy to do what he can, which is a lot. In his first two NFL seasons he has averaged 77 tackles and nearly three sacks. Plus he has forced three fumbles."I had multiple injuries last year that held me back," Casey said. "This year I'm fully healthy and ready to go. I'm just bringing everything I've got. I'm trying to do big things to help my team. I have to keep on moving forward."Even when the referees are not willing to look back at what he just did.• Personal fouls: Bernard Pollard was called for a personal foul on the fourth play of the game. It was the second time this preseason he has cost the defense 15 yards, which is one-third the number of tackles he has made. He was credited with three stops against the Falcons."We can't have those penalties," coach Mike Munchak said Sunday. "… He has to play smarter. There is no way around that. We can't have 15-yard penalties in this game.  It is hard enough to win as it is. We can't help an offense by doing that like we did in the game this weekend."Six plays after the latest penalty, the Falcons kicked a field goal and went ahead 3-0.• Third-and-1 more than once: Given the Titans' struggles up front last year, it was notable that they converted three third-and-1s with runs.It was even more notable that they did so with three different backs. Shonn Greene gained three yards on the first, in the first quarter. Then Chris Johnson went for 20 yards on the next one, early in the third quarter. Jackie Battle, playing with other reserves, got two yards on the last early in the fourth quarter.• Injury issues: Greene and wide receiver Nate Washington were pulled from the game in the first half with minor injuries. Greene experienced ankle pain, and Washington had a foot issue."It was just precautionary," Washington said. "I'll be all right."Said Munchak: "I think they're both going to be able to practice this week from what we know now and then we'll just see how they are."• Williard pick: Members of the first-team defense mobbed rookie linebacker Jonathan Willard after he intercepted a pass early in the fourth quarter. The undrafted free agent from Clemson played with the second team because the two starting outside linebackers, Zach Brown and Akeem Ayers, were out with injuries."With injuries and stuff, Willard is out there with the second team," safety Michael Griffin. "When you get the opportunity to go out there and you make plays it's a good thing and it lets you know as a team we've all got your back."It was the Titans' first interception of the preseason. Last year they had eight.• Running quarterbacks: Jake Locker and Ryan Fitzpatrick combined for four rushes for 11 yards in the first two preseason games. In this one Locker ran three times for 22 yards and Fitzpatrick gained 29 yards on two runs.Locker ran for 291 yards last season, and Fitzpatrick has had as many as 304 rushing yards in a season."[Fitzpatrick] has got some good legs on him," left guard Andy Levitre, a teammate of Fitzpatrick's for four years in Buffalo, said. "He's not the fastest guy but he can run."• Going deep: The knock on wide receiver Michael Preston during his two-plus seasons with the Titans (most of it on the practice squad) has been his speed. Therefore, his 56-yard reception early in the third quarter had to help his case to stick around. It was the Titans' longest pass play of the preseason thus far and happened because he got behind the defense before the ball was thrown.
