Solar energy venture Silicon Ranch announced Tuesday it will partner with Columbia, South Carolina-based Central Electric Power Cooperative to build a 100-megawatt solar farm that will support Meta’s first data center in that state.

According to a release, the solar project represents a capital investment of more than $100 million in Orangeburg County. The future data center and solar facility are both expected to be operational in 2027.
