Change Healthcare joins blockchain initiative

Change Healthcare, the company that combines the former Emdeon with McKesson Technology Solutions and a health care consumer engagement and transparency business, has joined a high-profile consortium seeking to develop blockchain technologies.

San Francisco-based Hyperledger was formed in let 2015 and is hosted by The Linux Foundation. Change Healthcare has joined the cross-industry group as a so-called premier member and is the first health care organization at that level. (Other premier members include Accenture, American Express, IBM and SAP.) As a result, Aaron Symanski, the company’s chief technology officer, will join Hyperledger’s governing board.
