Middle Tennessee misses out on electric car maker

A budding maker of small electric vehicles has chosen Arizona over the Nashville area as the base of its U.S. manufacturing and business operations.

Executives of Electrameccanica on Tuesday said they will build a manufacturing plant and engineering center in Mesa (which is located near Phoenix), where they expect to hire up to 500 people and crank out up to 20,000 of their Solo models per year.
