Gov. Bill Lee speaks at the Ford BlueOval City event in 2021.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced part of its $644.2 million funding for rural infrastructure projects will target Stanton, the West Tennessee town where Ford’s BlueOval City electric vehicle campus will be located.

Overall, the USDA will award $20.8 million to Tennessee from its nationwide financing for six rural drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects in the state. The City of Stanton will receive the most funding of any state project — more than $8 million — nearly 39 percent of the investment. Stanton’s funds will come in the form of a $3.59 million loan and a $4.49 million grant.
