UPDATED 3:50 P.M. - A Baker Donelson spokesperson said this afternoon the earlier release should have pegged the firm's total lawyers as more than 500.As originally published:The ranks of lawyers in the Nashville office of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz now comprise 80 attorneys, following today's announcement of new hires and transfers from the firm's other offices.Managing Shareholder Bruce Doeg announced that the firmwide count now exceeds 460 lawyers, with the recruitment of four attorneys:Bob Looney is of counsel, having joined the firm after nearly 17 years with Nortel Networks, most recently as associate general counsel for mergers and acquisitions, worldwide. He will focus on mergers, acquisitions and technology law. He earned his J.D. in 1986 at the University of Texas School of Law and his bachelor's at Texas in 1979.Ben Bodzy joins as an associate in the firm's labor and employment law department. He was previously an associate at The Zinser Law Firm, where he represented management in labor and employment matters. He earned his law degree from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2004, and his bachelor's at the University of Virginia in 2000.Mark Pierce, who also arrived as an associate, works in the fields of securities, corporate mergers and acquisitions and general corporate law. He recently clerked for Davidson County Chancery Court Part III Chancellor Ellen Hobbs Lyle. Prior to that he was an associate at Shumacker Witt Gaither & Whitaker in Chattanooga. He earned his J.D. at the University of Tennessee in 2003, and his bachelor's at Hillsdale (Mich.) College in 1998.Jill Suwanski is now an associate in the corporate practice group, focusing on franchise law. She previously practiced five years with Taft, Stettinius & Hollister LLP, in Cincinnati. She earned her J.D. at the University of Kentucky in 2002 and her bachelor's at Kentucky Wesleyan College in 1999.The associates who recently transferred from Baker Donelson's Memphis and Birmingham offices, respectively, are Sharon Kolb and Kelly Worman.Kolb focuses on investment adviser and broker-dealer regulation, in the business and transactions practice. Earlier, she worked as a licensed securities broker and an investment adviser. She earned her J.D. at University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphries School of Law in 2004. She earned her Master's at the University of Arkansas in 1995, and her bachelor's at Arkansas State University in 1985.Worman concentrates on commercial real estate development, financing and leasing. He earned his law degree at Vanderbilt University in 2004, and his bachelor's at the University of Michigan in 2001.
