The U.S. Department of Justice announced Tuesday it is investigating conditions at Trousdale Turner Correctional Center, a Tennessee Department of Correction facility operated by Brentwood-based private correctional facilities management company CoreCivic.

According to a release, the DOJ Civil Rights Division’s Special Litigation Section is conducting the investigation jointly with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee. The investigation is being undertaken via the Civil Rights of Institutionalized Persons Act.
