Veteran Vanderbilt Health Chief Communications Officer John Howser has announced plans to retire in March 2027 — after an approximately 40-year tenure with the institution.

Vanderbilt Health News reports Howser began his Vanderbilt career in 1987 as a staff photojournalist. A series of leadership roles led to his current position for Vanderbilt Health, which oversees Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He assumed the role of chief communications officer in 2016.
