Vanderbilt University Medical Center investigators have developed a vaccine that can block cancerous tumor development when administered in early stages.

According to a release, a study recently published in the Journal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer found effectiveness in a mouse model. Mice treated with the vaccine remained cancer-free for the two years following the trial, too. Previous clinical trials had found little effectiveness on more advanced tumors, according to a press release.
