Locally based hospital company Community Health Systems announced it will purchase some of its pharmaceuticals from Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company, claiming to be the first in the nation to do so.

The partnership represents an effort to offer lower cost drugs in the hospital setting and manage drug shortages, according to a Thursday press release. CHS-affiliated hospitals will receive from Cost Plus’s new manufacturing plant some supplies focused on injectable medications, the first sterile injectables offered by the company.
