Nashville-based Envision Healthcare is now split into two successor companies, as nearly six months of bankruptcy proceedings come to a close.

Envision Healthcare, which focuses on physician staffing for emergency rooms, and AmSurg, a group of ambulatory surgery centers, will each operate independently. Envision filed for bankruptcy in a Houston court in May with $7.76 billion in debt. The restructuring plan has reduced the company’s debt by more than 70 percent, according to a press release.
