Nashville-based health care private equity firm Claritas Health Ventures recently led a $6.2 million Series A funding round for a Baltimore digital health company focused on medication adherence for patients with chronic and infectious diseases.

Emocha (stylized as "emocha") Health closed the fund led by Claritas this month with additional backing from CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Kapor Capital and PTX Capital. The company leverages digital tools and a virtual clinical team to get patients to take their medication as prescribed, tapping into a practice endorsed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention called directly observed therapy.
