Former Supreme Court Justice passes away in Crossville

Former Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Charles O'Brien passed away today in Crossville. He was 86, and had been in the hospital recently with a heart related illness and was suffering complications from diabetes.

O'Brien, who was also a state Senator from Memphis was member of the 83rd and 84th Tennessee General Assemblies and the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals, was married to former state Sen. Anna Belle Clement O'Brien, who survives him. Miss Anna Belle, as she is widely known, is the sister of the late Tennessee Gov. Frank Clement.
