CoreCivic has announced the $1.5 billion sale of two correctional facilities in California to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

According to a release, the transaction involved the 2,560-bed California City Detention Facility ($732.6 million) in California City and the 1,994-bed Otay Mesa Detention Center ($739.2 million) in San Diego.
