Briley announces affordable housing moon shot

Mayor David Briley will try to make affordable housing his landmark achievement in office.

With a mayoral election coming later this year, Briley announced Tuesday an initiative called Under One Roof 2029, through which he says his administration aims to see $750 million invested in affordable housing. The plan calls for the city to invest $500 million and calls on the private sector to invest $250 million in the effort. A release from the mayor's office says the initiative aims to create at least 10,000 affordable units.
