Cincinnati-based MadTree Brewing has enlisted Ajax Turner Co. of La Vergne to handle distribution within the general Nashville area.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed in a release.
Beginning in late January, Ajax Turner will distribute draft and package versions of MadTree’s core lineup of beers including PsycHOPathy IPA and Lift Kölsch, along with seasonal offerings, Luna Lux white IPA and Rubus Cacao chocolate raspberry stout.
“Ajax Turner was an easy choice for us as we align on all the same goals of bringing great beer to and supporting the community of middle Tennessee,” MadTree Co-Founder Brady Duncan said in a release. “We are really looking forward to hanging out and having a beer with Nashville.”
Kyle Lawing, Ajax Turner craft and import beer manager, said the MadTree name is “already familiar” to many in the area.
Founded in 2013, MadTree bills itself as the first Ohio brewery to offer canned craft beer. In February, the company opened a new production brewery and taproom.
Ajax Turner Company, Inc. distributes throughout Middle Tennessee beer, wine, spirits and non-alcoholic beverages from both U.S. and foreign companies. The family owned and operated company started in 1961 representing Anheuser-Busch and HeinekenUSA.
Uncle Nearest to distill in Shelbyville
Officials with Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey have announced the purchase of Sand Creek Farms in Shelbyville and are planning a distillery, tasting room and music venue for the historic Tennessee Walking Horse farm and event center.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed in a release.
John T. Bobo, a Shelbyville attorney, represented the buyers and sellers in the deal involving the Bedford County property.
Tennessee Walking Horse grand champion owner and architect Thom Meek is serving as lead architect.
Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey is being made in concert with an unidentified whiskey-maker located in the greater Nashville area and will continue as such until construction of the distillery is complete.
“We look forward to continuing to work with our Tennessee distillery partners to create and bottle our award-winning premium whiskey,” Sherrie Moore, a 31-year veteran in the Tennessee whiskey industry and director of whiskey operations for Uncle Nearest, said in the release. “But as the brand continues to grow and excitement around Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey increases, we need to be prepared to keep up with the demand.”
The company (which seemingly is co-based in Portland, Oregon, and Nashville) already owns the 313-acre farm where the original Jack Daniel Distillery was located until May 31, 1881, and where Nearest Green, an African-American, taught the then-young entrepreneur Jack Daniel about whiskey making.
