Investment banking company adds two

The Nashville office of investment bank Bailey Southwell & Co. has hired Stephen Scott as managing director and Lance Bell as senior vice president.

Both will focus on health care services companies, according to a release.

Scott (on left in photo) brings more than 20 years of industry experience, including the completion of approximately 40 health care mergers and acquisitions advisory, equity and debt transactions.

Before joining BSC, Scott served as a managing director with Nashville-based investment banking company Avondale Partners. He also spent eight years at Stephens Inc. and five years at Jefferies & Co.

Prior to his banking career, Scott held corporate finance positions both at HCA Inc. and PhyCor. He earned his M.B.A. degree with honors from Vanderbilt University.

Bell brings 12 years of M&A advisory, equity and debt transaction experience, having completed more than 30 transactions. Most recently, he was a director with Avondale.

Bell also has practiced corporate and securities law at Frost Brown Todd, where he represented both public and private companies with a focus on M&A, strategic corporate planning and capital raising transactions. He holds a M.B.A. degree from the University of Chicago and a J.D. degree from Vanderbilt.

In addition, BSC has promoted Ben Bates to senior vice president and Alex Guyton to vice president.

Bates started with the firm in 2006 and has 10 years of investment banking experience.

He received his B.B.A. degree from Belmont University.

Guyton has over five years of investment banking and private equity experience.

He earned his M.B.A. degree from Vanderbilt and a B.A. degree in economics from Dartmouth College. Guyton holds the chartered financial analyst designation.
