Another monster VUMC permit, Union Station Hotel dining, airport construction and more

More big dollars on VUMC
Centex Construction is constructing the 10-floor addition to Vanderbilt University Medical Center as well as rehabbing the existing center. All told, the permit shows the value of the work to be $87 million. Later this year, work is scheduled to finish on Medical Research Building IV, a $110 million project.

Union Station dining
Shaub Construction is renovating the former Arthur’s Restaurant space at the Union Station hotel for another restaurant. The permit is valued at $500,000. Renovation on the rest of the hotel is nearly complete. Arthur’s closed last year. Instead of bringing a restaurant, owners Adventura, Fla.-based Turnberry Associates and its local partners are working on a concept of their own.

Condos rising
R.G. Anderson Co. pulled the permit to begin construction on Belle Meade Court, developer Tony Giarratana’s project at Ridgefield Drive and Kenner Avenue with Atlanta-based Newport Development. The permit for the shell building is valued at $9.8 million.

Surprise, more VUMC construction
Turner Universal Construction is finishing out 8,500 square feet on the 10th floor of Vanderbilt University Medical Center for human anatomy and research. The permit is valued at $2 million.

Apartment rises from ashes
Hayes Constructors is rebuilding a building for Parkwood Villa Apartments at 3258 Brick Church Pike. The building is replacing a 24-unit building that a fire destroyed on New Year’s Eve. It is estimated to cost just under $1.7 million.

State rehab
Shankle-Lind is rehabbing the fourth and 11th floors of the Citizens Plaza Building at 400 Deaderick St. for the state. The permit is valued at $1.6 million.

Renovating Teachers apartments
Orion Building is renovating the interior of the Green Hills Apartments for Retired Teachers. It includes upgrading the fire system in the building at 2209 Abbott Martin Rd. The permit is valued at $1.5 million.

More Vandy construction
R.C. Mathews Contractor is replacing the windows on the Vanderbilt’s Baker Building at 106 21st Ave. S. The permit is valued at $902,000.

Still more
The Parent Co. is working on Phase II of renovating Vanderbilt University’s Memorial Hall. Work on this phase is valued at $851,000.

Airport CHUX
BRD Construction is renovating space at the Nashville airport for an O’Charley’s restaurant. This is part of the major airport renovation to bring in new food and beverage operations as well as retailers. Marsh Construction Services also has pulled permits for renovating portions of concourses at the Nashville airport for Sunglass Hut and CNN NewsStand. BRD’s permit is valued at $818,000 and Marsh’s two permits total $554,638.

Getting connected
Knestrick Contractor is constructing a three-level elevator lobby connecting two floors for AmSouth Bank at 550 Metroplex Drive in MetroCenter so a future sublease tenant can get to the space. The permit is valued at $500,000.

Quality renovating
E. Miles Custom Builder is renovating the Quality Inn at 981 Murfreesboro Road. The permit is valued at $450,000.
