Market Center Management Co. has named David Osborn general manager of the Nashville Medical Trade Center, which is slated to rise on the site of the current Nashville Convention Center.
Osborn had been a senior advisor to Market Center since last summer and has been in pre-leasing talks with potential tenants for the project, which got the green light after Metro Council last week passed a funding plan for a new convention center in SoBro.
The 2 million-square-foot Nashville Medical Trade Center is slated to open in 2013 and will house up to 1,200 showrooms as well as trade show space and meeting facilities.
“I am thrilled to help lead this effort to create a new home for healthcare products, services, and ideas that will generate better business and result in better care,” said Osborn. “Support from the healthcare leadership who recognize the advantages of a trade center is fueling our progress.”
Before coming on board with Market Center, Osborn was executive director of The HealthCare Solutions Group, a think tank affiliated with Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the Nashville Health Care Council.
