County jobless rates dip

Donuts see biggest drops

The Nashville area's jobless rate fell 0.4 percentage points to 9.6 percent in July.

The region's outlying and smaller counties posted the biggest improvements, with Rutherford County's and Cannon County's rates dropping almost a full percentage point to 10.2 percent and 13.7 percent, respectively. In Davidson County, the jobless rate fell a tick to 9.2 percent; Williamson County's number rose by the same amount to 8.4 percent.

Elsewhere in the state, Chattanooga's unemployment rate came in at 9.5 percent last month, while Knoxville's dipped to 9.0 percent. To view the state's full numbers set, click here.
