Three high level officials within Vanderbilt University Medical Center will be taking on new responsibilities it was announced today.
Keith Churchwell will become the executive director and chief medical officer for the Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute. Churchwell, not to be confused with Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital CEO Kevin Churchwell, has previously served in the role on an interim basis.
Jonathan Gitlin, who currently serves as the chair of the department of pediatrics, will take on the additional roles of assistant vice chancellor of maternal and child health affairs and associate dean for clinical affairs in the school of medicine.
Current chair of the department of ophthalmology & visual sciences and director of the Vanderbilt Eye Institute, Paul Sternberg will step into the role of assistant vice chancellor for adult health affairs. He too will also occupy the role of associate dean for clinical affairs in the school of medicine.
All three will report to Wright Pinson, who was recently promoted to the positions of deputy vice chancellor for health affairs and CEO of the hospitals and clinics, as well as senior associate dean for clinical affairs.
