Payment cycle outfit Emdeon has agreed to acquire the assets of The Sentinel Group from Optimal Business Services.
According to Emdeon, the acquisition of the fraud and abuse management services company will expand its “portfolio of offerings to help identify potential financial risks much earlier in the claims administration cycle.”
The deal is still subject to closing conditions and is expected to finally close sometime during the second quarter of this year. No financial terms were disclosed.
The Sentinel Group is a subsidiary of Trustmark Mutual Holding Co., which is based in Lake Forest, Ill.
This purchase follows another recent deal through which Emdeon purchased the GE Healthcare Information Technology patient statement business. Nashville-based Emdeon, which last year disclosed plans to raise $460 million through an initial public offering, has annual revenue of about $850 million.
