Democratic Party continues to not act like itself

Party leaders continue recent trend of working together

In a further sign that tensions are easing between leaders of the Tennessee Democratic Party, it was announced today that Gov. Phil Bredesen will headline his party's annual major fundraiser, albeit delayed.

Citing scheduling conflicts, the TDP said it will reschedule its annual Jackson Day fundraiser for late summer and that "a new date and location will be announced shortly."

In addition to Bredesen, the event also will feature former Congressman Harold Ford Jr., who now heads up the Democratic Leadership Council, and a "lineup of prominent Democrats committed to helping advance next year's candidates and campaigns in Tennessee."

This announcement comes on the heels of news that Bredesen had brokered a peace treaty between major party players and TDP state chair Chip Forrester. Given the turmoil Democrats have already had this year between various factions within the party, several consecutive days of congeniality come as somewhat of a surprise.
