North Highland adds clinical consultant

The North Highland Company has announced that Karla Schnell, a leading specialist in emerging trends for health care providers, has joined its Nashville-based national health care consulting team.

Schnell will specialize in clinical consulting — from strategy through operations — for North Highland’s hospital clients and health care provider clients. Before joining North Highland, she was with Navigant Consulting and was chief nursing officer for First Consulting Group. In addition, Schnell spent nine years working with Cerner Corp. in a number of capacities.

Schnell received her bachelor of nursing degree from the University of Manitoba and her nursing diploma from the Georgian College of Applied Arts & Technology in Ontario.

Axis adds to technology staff

Brentwood-based Axis Accounting Systems, a provider of financial software and consulting services, has added Adam Parker to its consulting team.

Parker was most recently a software developer for the U.S. Air Force Combat Ammunition System and held the rank of senior airman. He holds associate degrees in computer science and information technology. As a technology consultant at Axis, Parker will develop and maintain custom software applications.

Alive Hospice names Bordelon CFO

Alive Hospice has named Missy Bordelon chief financial officer. In that role, Bordelon directs the financial operations of Alive Hospice and plays a critical role in ensuring the agency’s financial wellness, overseeing its stewardship of resources and strategic planning.

Prior to joining Alive, Bordelon served as director of revenue cycle at Louisiana-based LHC Group Inc. and was chief financial officer at a LifePoint Hospitals facility in Louisiana. She holds an MBA from the University of Southwestern Louisiana.

Robotics firm hires director of marketing

Universal Robotics Inc. has named industry veteran Hob Wubbena its director of marketing. Wubbena will lead all of Universal’s marketing efforts, including the 2010 launch of Neocortex, the company’s signature software that allows machines to learn from their experiences rather than being programmed to act.

Prior to joining Universal Robotics, Wubbena worked in the technology industry for 16 years in planning, marketing and introducing engineering solutions for Hewlett-Packard and Agilent Technologies. Prior to his marketing career, Wubbena was an engineer for more than a decade. He earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from University of Wisconsin and an executive MBA from University of Denver.

Stallings appointed to TRICOR board of directors

Teresa Stallings, transition coordinator for the Tennessee AFL-CIO Technical Assistance Program, has been appointed by Gov. Phil Bredesen to the board of directors of Tennessee Rehabilitative Initiative in Correction. Her appointment runs until June 30, 2012. Stallings serves as a member-at-large on the TRICOR board of directors.

Stallings has been involved with the labor movement for 28 years. She also serves on the board of directors as the labor director for the Tennessee Employment Research Relations Association.

MNPS hires associate superintendent for high schools

Jay Steele, director for career education for the St. Johns County
School District in St. Augustine, Fla., has accepted the position of Metro’s associate superintendent for high schools.

Steele taught band for 10 years and was the St. Johns County teacher of the year in 1996. He later served as the principal of a technical high school located on a post-secondary technical college campus and eventually became the county's vice president for secondary and adult programs. In 2004, he was named the director for career education.

Steele graduated from Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in music and completed his master’s in educational leadership from the University of North Florida.

MP&F promotes two

McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations recently promoted Alison Maraniss and Jennifer Poston from senior account executives to account supervisors.

Maraniss joined MP&F as a staff associate in 2002. Prior to joining the firm, Maraniss interned at Fleishman-Hillard’s world headquarters in St. Louis, where she was responsible for media relations and research. A graduate of Saint Louis University, Maraniss holds a bachelor’s degree in communications with minors in marketing and theology.

Poston joined MP&F in 2005 after serving as marketing specialist for the office for trademark licensing at Vanderbilt University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in human and organizational development and a master’s degree in organizational leadership, both from Vanderbilt University.
