Passport Health and HMS team up

Formalized relationship could provide growth opportunities

10-21-2009 11:53 AM

Passport Health Communications and Healthcare Management Systems announced a formal partnership today wherein HMS will offer Passport’s patient access management tools as an integrated part of its products.

Nashville-based HMS provides clinical and financial hospital information systems to 650 community hospitals and health care organizations across the country. With the partnership, hospitals implementing HMS platforms can choose to integrate Franklin-based Passport’s patient insurance eligibility verification and payment tools, allowing patient data from the Passport system to post to the HMS platform automatically.

Passport, which currently works with about a third of the country’s 5,000 hospitals, has partnered with HMS on an informal basis until now. The two companies have collaborated on integrating their products for mutual clients, according to Passport spokesman Dave Chaney.

The formal relationship will allow the companies to offer the integrated services up front, which may create growth opportunities for both businesses in targeting new clients, he said.
