To begin the New Year, local financial house Avondale Partners announced two new assignments.

First up, the firm's investment-banking arm served as financial advisor to Germany’s SCM Microsystems in its recently announced merger with Santa Ana, Calif.-based Hirsch Electronics Corp.

According to its Web site, SCM, which has its U.S. headquarters in Freemont, Calif., develops and manufactures “smart card readers and terminal technology for secure PC, network and physical access and digital media readers for transfer of digital content.” Likewise, Hirsch develops and sells “high security access control and security management systems.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Secondly, Avondale announced that it has been retained by Oregon-based Monaco Coach Corp. (Ticker: MNC), a struggling recreational vehicle maker, to help assess options for its Signature Motorhome Resorts unit.
