The board of America Service Group today named Dick Wright chairman, replacing Michael Catalano, who retired from that post and as CEO at the beginning of the year.

Wright is a senior partner with Southwind Health Partners, a locally based physician practice management and consulting company. He was America Service's vice chairman of operations from late 2001 to March 2005 and has been a director of the company since 1999. He also was a co-founder of physician practice management pioneer PhyCor.

Wright's election completes the leadership transition that began last September, when Catalano said he would step down after leading America Service for a decade. Since then – Catalano's announcement came on the day Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy – shares of the Brentwood-based company (Ticker: ASGR) have fallen about 10 percent versus a 32 percent drop in the Standard & Poor's 500.
