Judge OKs American Color Chapter 11 plan

Printer expects to merge with Maryland peer during next three weeks

A Delaware bankruptcy judge has approved a pre-packaged reorganization plan for American Color Graphics, the troubled Brentwood-based commercial printer.

The move, which comes six weeks after American Color filed its Chapter 11 papers along with Vertis Communications, the Maryland-based company with which it plans to merge. The companies say the deal will trim their combined debt load by $1 billion.
