Five finalists for Public Defender post

08-26-2008 4:59 PM — Metro Council will have five candidates to consider when it chooses the interim Metro Public Defender at its Sept. 16 meeting.

The five finalists, who submitted their names for consideration or had themselves nominated, are Shirley Fitzgerald Corry, Dawn Deaner, Laura Dykes, Skip Gant and Kelvin Jones.

Deaner and Dykes are both currently in the public defender’s office. Dykes is the deputy director.

The vacancy opened after the tragic death of Ross Alderman, who died in a motorcycle accident earlier this month.
