Three local industry associations today announced plans to mount a trade mission to India next February.
The Nashville Technology Council, the Nashville Chamber's International Business Council, and the Nashville Health Care Council are arranging the trip, set for Feb. 20 to March 1.
Leading the mission will be HCA CEO Jack Bovender. The itinerary so far includes stops in New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore. Participants are to meet with representatives from the U.S. Embassy, the Indian government, the American Chamber of Commerce and local industry executives in technology, health care and other fields.
Ties between Nashville companies and India have increased in recent years. Medical transcription firm Spheris, for instance, has offices in Bangalore and Coimbatore, while fast-growing business process outsourcer eMids Technologies also has a Bangalore operation which last year entered into an alliance with Zycron Inc., another Nashville IT firm.
