Three East Tennessee names have been sent to Gov. Phil Bredesen as candidates for the Supreme Court vacancy created by the impending departure of current Chief Justice William M. Barker.

Comprising the slate sent to the governor today by the Judicial Selection Commission are Knoxville Appeals Court judge Sharon G. Lee, D. Bruce Shine of Kingsport law firm Shine & Mason, and Chattanooga sole practitioner John Westley McClarty.

Barker, who earlier this summer postponed his departure, is set to retire in just under a month on Sept. 15.
