Youth Service detectives, teaming with the Nashville Prevention Partnership and Hermitage Precinct officers, cited clerks at 14 markets for selling alcohol to underage persons last week.

A total of 102 markets were checked on July 1 and July 3. Here's a list of those caught selling to persons under 21:

• Discount Beer/Tobacco, 3916 Nolensville Pike
• Mapco, 234 Thompson Lane
• Liquor & Wine, 109 East Thompson Lane
• Discount Beer/Tobacco, 419 Murfreesboro Pike
• J & J's Village Market, 2006-A Belcourt Ave.
• R & R Liquors, 1043 Jefferson St.
• Texaco Market, 14910 Bell Road
• Dulce Discount Tobacco & Beer, 4724 Nolensville Pike
• Mystik Market, 4199 Nolensville Pike
• Super Mercado, 4536 Nolensville Pike
• Citgo, 4719 Nolensville Pike
• Chevron, 3840 Lebanon Pike
• Shell, 500 Donelson Pike
• Kwik Stop, 2821 Smith Springs Road

"Underage alcohol sales and consumption put young people and our community at risk," Chief Ronal Serpas said. "Market clerks know that it takes only a few seconds to verify a beer buyer's age."

The clerks making the sales will appear in General Sessions Court in the coming days. The businesses will be reported to the Metropolitan Beer Board for whatever action it deems appropriate.
