Hope springs eternal when it comes to the Democratic Super Ticket.

That would seem to be the main takeaway from the voting so far in The 2008 Veepsteaks presented by NashvillePost.com and Jimmy Kelly's Steakhouse.

We asked you to send us your thoughts on who John McCain and Barack Obama will pick as running mates and you have stepped up big time. In all, you've nominated almost 50 individuals, including Colin Powell and Michael Bloomberg for both tickets.

On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton is your top pick for VP, but barely edging out Bill Richardson, John Edwards and Jim Webb. Based on your voting, the GOP picture appears to be clearer: Mitt Romney leads Tim Pawlenty and Charlie Crist by a healthy margin.

Think the ballots so far are way off base? Let's hear what you've got then. To take part in the 2008 Veepsteaks, click here. You have until July 31 or until one of the candidates names his running mate to send us your entries. The winner will receive dinner for six at Jimmy Kelly's.
