NBC network anchor John Seigenthaler has joined the public relations firm run by his cousin, Beth Seigenthaler Courtney.

John Seigenthaler will be partner and CEO of the firm's new operations in New York, from where he will market various strategic planning, communications and consulting services.

"John’s unparalleled experience and national reputation in communications, coupled with his incisive strategic abilities, will be tremendous assets to our clients," Courtney said. "Our close family ties obviously make this announcement all the more gratifying for us."

Seigenthaler began his TV news career in 1980 at local NBC affiliate WSMV-TV. He moved to Seattle a decade later and returned to Nashville in 1993 to co-anchor the nightly news at ABC affiliate News 2. In 1996, NBC hired him for its new cable news channel, MSNBC, where he spent 11 years.

Seigenthaler was founded in 1972 by Tom Seigenthaler. The firm also has offices in Chicago.
