Former State Sen. John Ford will see a familiar face at his next trial – that of Gov. Phil Bredesen.

Bredesen told the Knoxville News-Sentinel's Tom Humphreys today that that he has been subpoenaed as a prosecution witness in Ford's trial.

Already convicted on bribery charges related to the Tennessee Waltz public corruption scandal, Ford will stand trial starting tomorrow for allegedly trying to steer state contracts to companies he represented without disclosing his role.

According to Bredesen, his testimony will focus on a meeting during which Ford urged that more TennCare enrollees be assigned to Omnicare, a company he represented. Ford also represented Doral Dental without disclosing that fact.
