Deloitte & Touche appears poised to launch another major expansion of its local back-office group after buying 10 acres in Hermitage this week.
The firm’s $3 million acquisition of land between its Sells Drive offices and Old Hickory Boulevard comes about a year after company officials said they planned to add about 100 jobs to their 1,000 local IT, operational and financial support workers. The company is currently adding a data center to its existing site.
Longtime local real estate players James Maddox and Tom Corcoran bought Deloitte’s new property in the early 1990s. Fully built out, the 10 acres could hold office space and parking for up to 1,000 new employees. Deloitte’s current facilities, which the company acquired in 2001, take up almost 18 acres, a good chunk of which serves as a buffer for Interstate 40.
Calls to Deloitte officials in Nashville and New York were not returned prior to publication of this article to clarify the firm’s plans. Corcoran said the accounting and consulting giant was "a strong candidate" to buy the site for a while, but added that talks about a deal only got serious recently.
