Local corporate attorney Riney Green is switching teams, according to an announcement out this morning. The well-known Stites attorney is set to join Bass Berry & Sims as a member.

Green, a past Pro Bono Attorney of the Year honoree, will focus his practice in the corporate and securities and healthcare practices.

Apparently, however, Green’s will not be the only new face around the Regions Center in the coming months. Bass Berry has made it known that it plans to add roughly 25 new associates.

Managing Partner Keith Simmons, contacted by NashvillePost.com, attributed the uptick in hiring both to success over the last couple of years and the increased staffing needs that come with it as well as the success of last year's summer associate program, which is the source of the impending hires.

Despite the fact that the hiring decisions were made some time ago, Simmons noted his firm was not rescinding any offers and was steadfast in its "commitment to deepen its resources."

This news comes as other prominent firms around town such as Waller Lansden have trimmed their ranks in light of the sluggish economy. But like Bass, those firms have stuck to their original summer associate plans.

Bass' new associates will join in the fall.
