Former Ky. insurance commissioner joins Burr

Addition lifts regional firm's attorney count to 10

The Nashville office of regional law firm Burr & Foreman has added Julie Mix McPeak, a former Kentucky commissioner of insurance, to its roster.

McPeak has more than 14 years of experience in the legal and government worlds. Most recently, she was the Executive Director of the Kentucky Office of Insurance. Before that, the University of Louisville School of Law graduate spent five years as general counsel of the office.

Her work at Burr will focus on life and health insurers, medical malpractice reform and health care reform efforts.

Birmingham-headquartered Burr opened its local office two years ago, when a group of attorneys left Greenebaum Doll & McDonald. It has since steadily grown its staff.

"This is an important step in our development of Burr's Tennessee presence," said Larry Ahern, the managing partner of the local office. "Julie will be a great addition to the Nashville office and to the firm's regional and national practices in insurance regulation and related fields."
